Jacky & Matt, the 3rd and 4th generation of Asian American bride and groom want to have a modern Asian American wedding at Ebell Long Beach, a vintage venue. Jacky wants to keep the wedding Western style, but to honor her Chinese heritage of having a custom mermaid silk red Qipao made by Madam Shanghai.
Vietnamese and Chinese Cultural Background
They have been together for 12 years since high school. Jacky's family is Chinese and Matt's family is Vietnamese. They are both 3rd and 4th generation of Asian Americans and neither of their family are very traditional.
"I don't know too much about the Chinese culture, I am not trying to do a tea ceremony. But I want to wear a Qipao for my reception to honor my heritage on my wedding day. I want a modern custom made Qipao dress."
